John Gaddess
John and his wife moved from McCall, Idaho to Sandpoint in 2009. His professional career has been centered around forest resource management and arboriculture, both public and private sector.
John was first introduced to the board while he was working for Idaho Department of Lands and after he went into the private sector in 2019, he was still drawn to the tremendous on-the-ground impact that BSWCD does and has been a member of the board ever since.
John co-founded Great Northern Disc Golf, a 501c3 that promotes access to disc golf in the region and co-founded the Idaho Panhandle Seedling Program (IPSP) while serving as a full member of the BSWCD and has maintained active leadership on the IPSP board ever since. He enjoys volunteering as much time as possible for the Kaniksu Land Trust and the Bonner County History Museum. He has spent several seasons as a youth soccer coach and referee and has volunteered at many of the Idaho State Forestry Contests.
John created an ever-growing geodatabase documenting the location of historical logging camps, railroads, and flume locations in Bonner County. This research is informed by the work of many preceding archaeologists and historians combined with modern LiDAR analysis and the georectification of dozens and dozens of aerial photographs from the 1930's and 40's.
